What Do You Need to Watch Before Avengers: Doomsday?

For a manageable refresher, revisit Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame if you do not remember the Avengers’ last major shared turning point. Disney is explicitly promoting Endgame: Encore ahead of Doomsday, and Disney+ has a Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday collection. Treat a promotional collection as guidance, not proof that every listed film is necessary to understand the unreleased story.[1][2][3]

What is officially confirmed?
As checked on 28 September 2026, Disney lists Avengers: Doomsday for theatrical release on 18 December 2026. Its fall preview describes the September 25 Endgame: Encore release as including an exclusive look at Doomsday, with an additional preview in specified premium formats.[1]
Disney+ also has a collection titled Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday. That confirms an official preparation resource exists. Catalogue access can vary by region, and a promotional selection is not the same as a statement that a film’s plot requires every item in it.[2]
We are not reproducing a supposedly definitive minimum watchlist from casting announcements. An actor appearing in promotional material does not establish which earlier version, event or relationship the finished film will expect you to know.
What is a sensible short refresher?

If you already remember those stories, rewatching them is optional. Start with the gap you actually have. Someone returning after Endgame needs a different preparation route from someone who has never watched an Avengers film.

Should you add older X-Men films or every multiverse story?
Do not treat an entire older franchise as mandatory merely because familiar actors are involved. Add a film when an official source or the released story establishes a useful relationship, or because you want to explore those characters for their own sake. At present, this page does not certify a complete set of plot prerequisites.
The same rule applies to any long fan watchlist: ask what each title contributes. A list can be a celebration of Marvel history without being a minimum entry requirement. If the answer is only that a character might appear, label the suggestion as optional context.
